Three-part tea course 'The World of Tea'
New at Museum Joure
This winter Museum Joure is organizing the course "The World of Tea. A varied program of three afternoons in which you will learn everything about tea: from its growth and processing, to its taste and cultural role over the years. And of course you will also make and taste teas. You can register until January 18 via the form at the bottom of this page.

Wednesday, Jan. 25, 1 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
- Getting to know the other students
- Introduction to 'taste'
- Growth and processing of tea
- Introduction to the culture of tea drinking, in China and Europe
Wednesday, Feb. 1, 1 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
- Rituals, customs and unusual tea-drinking objects
- Tea processing in the Netherlands, past and present
- Tea in literature: the lords of tea
- What is a high tea, an afternoon tea and a cream tea?
Wednesday, Feb. 8, 1 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
- Tea making and tasting with the tea sommelier
- Composing and brewing (un)herbal teas
- Afternoon tea (tea drinking with accompanying delicacies)

Bakermat of Pickwick
The course 'The World of Tea' is organized by Museum Joure. The museum is housed in the old premises of Douwe Egberts, the producer of DE coffee and Pickwick tea. The museum houses a large collection of objects related to the production, processing and drinking of tea.
