Frits Drent is exhibiting from January 10 to March 10 in the Auditorium at Museum Joure. This exhibition will feature paintings and graphic work by the artist.
The Fries Grafisch Museum (FGM) and Museum Joure are jointly organizing a large retrospective exhibition of Frits Drent. The reason for this exhibition is the donation of a large collection of graphic works by Frits Drent, which was in the possession of the Municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel, to the FGM. This collection, which came about mainly in the 1970s thanks to the BKR regulation in force at the time, shows a complete overview of Drent's very high-quality dry needles. In addition to prints in various states with notes for changes in later printings, the Graphic Cabinet will also show the printing plates used. Supplemented by a number of photographs, the process of the creation of a print is made visible here.
In the Auditorium, the drying needles will be complemented by paintings in oil as made by Drent to this day.
The opening of this exhibition will be on Sunday afternoon, January 10, in the presence of Mayor Fred Veenstra, who will then also be presented with the first 2016 Frisian Kopper print.
