Art and Crafts in and around Museum Joure during Open Monuments Weekend
During Open Monuments Weekend on Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13, Museum Joure is organizing exciting activities in line with the theme: Art and Craft. Museum Joure offers its visitors the free program below from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. with special visits on Saturday to the Jouster goldsmith, clockmakers and shipbuilder. There will also be guided tours of Pand 99 both days and artists will tell about their work.

Program Saturday September 12 and Sunday September 13
Guild masters Anno Valkema and Klaas Jelsma lead their visitors at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to the workshops of Master goldsmith Watze van der Wal, to clockmaker Jacob ten Hoeve and clock repairer Freerk Pasveer, to the Jouster Clockmaker and to Jachtwerf De Jong, the nursery of wooden ships.
Meanwhile, in the Front Salon of Pand 99, artist Ellen van Keeken of the Kessels and Van Keeken Painting School paints an object from the salon. Through Pand 99, Frans Tolsma leads around to the Beautiful Room with its beautifully carved ceiling.
Work by ceramicist Hilma Smits stands and hangs in the museum garden. She demonstrates to the public how she makes objects from clay with her potter's wheel.
In the workshops of Museum Joure, the baker, printer, tea maker and silversmith tell enthusiastically about their trade. Moreover, in the Entrance Building there is a beautiful photo presentation of monuments from Joure. You can also enjoy the floral art of the Joure flower styling store Rebelle.
On Sunday, the program is almost the same as Saturday, except that the workshops of contemporary artisans will not be open.
