CRAFT DEMONSTRATIONS

Experience the passion of the craftsman in Museum Joure

Smell the scent of ink, freshly roasted coffee and dûmkes (Frisian cookies). Hear the hammering of the coppersmith and silversmith. See the precision of the clockmaker and admire the ingenious tea-making machine. A feast for the senses. Every Thursday in July and August artisans demonstrate their craftsmanship at Museum Joure from 1:30 to 4:30 pm. Children and also the elderly can make their own tea bags, grind coffee beans, hammer their name and print a bookmark. In the garden hang swings.

It is aMuseum Jourelalways a feast for the eyes to see how everything interlocks and a tea bag with staple and string comes out at the end. In the print shop printers with love about their craft. They keep the old typesetting and printing machines rattling and guide visitors to print their own bookmark.
The clock maker turns the pillars for the clocks behind his authentic wooden lathe. Hanging on the walls are bells that gleam from the attention they receive from the craftsman.
How a silver wire is pulled and how 't silver is best polished shows the silversmith see. Talking about Klaas Dijkstra of Sneek, who produced copper gifts for Douwe Egberts around 1930, hamming the coppersmith in Dijkstra's former coppersmith shop.
Finally, coffee is roasted from the very best green Arabica beans. How this is done explains the coffee roaster out. Accompanying the coffee is a delicious home-baked Frisian cookie, a dûmke, which the baker baked with great care. In Museum Joure, visitors experience the passion and enthusiasm of craftsmen.
