During the autumn vacations (region North) Museum Joure organizes from Monday October 18 to Friday October 22 The Make Factory for children from about 8 to about 14 years. This time you get to work with metal. You will make your own Tiereletangel, a kind of 'wind organ'. First, of course, you take a look at the most beautiful metal objects in the museum and then you get to work yourself. Knock the metal into shape with a hammer, work it with punching or soldering, you can try it all out.
Please note: For this activity, you must purchase museum tickets online in advance (ticket Child The Make Factory, €5 per child). Entrance for adult parents/guardians is as usual (€8.00 including coffee/tea with online booking), entrance for younger siblings and children who do not wish to join the Make Factory is €3.50.
Door handles, tea pots, forks and spoons, jewelry and flower pots, machines and packaging, all kinds of things were and are made of metal. In Museum Joure you will find beautiful examples of this. Sometimes the objects are very simple and practical and sometimes beautifully crafted and made just to admire, not to use! There are all kinds of metal, with different properties and there are also all kinds of ways to work that metal. During the Make Factory you can experiment with the help of the museum teachers. How can you cut, saw and cut metal? What are ways to turn a flat plate into a 3D object? And when does your Tiereletangel make the best sound? Soldering, bending, sawing, punching. You can do anything with metal!
